"A young woman who has known both darkness and light, and will never be able to choose between the two."

I am a polyamorous, bisexual, kinky, pagan, geek and my primary obsession is reading books. I'll read almost anything if I have the time, but I read more fantasy and science fiction than anything else. My current primary non-fiction topic of interest is the intersection between sexuality and spirituality, but I tend to go through non-fiction at a much slower rate than fiction. Other hobbies that take up my time are World of Warcraft and involvement in a local Rocky Horror Picture Show cast. I used to be involved in martial arts, and I've done a little belly dancing, so I'd like to pick those up again, but I haven't yet gotten around to it. I enjoy such things as camping, hiking, swimming, archery and horseback riding, though I don't do them nearly as much as I would like. I also do some writing, drawing, cross stitching, crochet, play some music, and do other random art-like things when the mood strikes me.

"Physics is like sex. Sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it."

I was born in California, grew up in Indiana, and then spent a number of years in Missouri earning first a bachelors degree and then a masters degree in physics/astronomy. I have now spent 3+ years working to develop education and outreach programs to teach kids about the universe.

"Beliefs are dangerous. Beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning."

Although I identify as pagan, I am constantly exploring and refining my beliefs and views of the world. This is an ongoing process that I do not expect to ever end. I pull my beliefs from many different cultures, traditions, and belief systems, real and fictitious. I constantly evaluate things I read or hear, and if it makes sense to me, I hold on to it. As such, I don't expect anybody's beliefs to be exactly the same as mine. I value a willingness to have open conversation more than I value a similarity in viewpoint. The differences make for interesting conversations if people are willing.

"The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; If there is any reaction, both are transformed."

Most of my posts are friends-locked, but if you want to get to know me, feel free to add me to your friends list. Leave me a message on one of my public posts to let me know that you're adding me and why. If you seem interesting, I'll probably add you back.

"Fairy tales don't teach children that monsters exist. Children already know that monsters exist. Fairy tales teach children that monsters can be killed."

"The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable."

"Every now and then, somewhere, someplace, sometime, you are going to have to plant your feet, stand firm, and make a point about who you are and what you believe in."

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but the strength to do what is right in the face of it."

"To the grim poor there need be no pour quoi tale about where evil arises; it just arises; it always is. One never learns how the witch became wicked, or whether it was the right choice for her - is it ever the right choice? Does the devil ever struggle to be good again, or if so is he not a devil? It is at the very least a question of definitions."

Listen to the MUSTN'TS, child,
Listen to the DON'TS
Listen to the SHOULDN'TS
The IMPOSSIBLES, the WON"TS
Listen to the NEVER HAVES
Then listen close to me--
Anything can happen, child,
ANYTHING can be.

"To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer."

"There are three types of people in the world: those who keep going after they should quit, those who stop before the end, and those who can tell the difference but don't have a choice."

"It's not illegal unless you get caught."

"Isn't fighting for peace like fucking for virginity?"
